COVID-19 has thrust the spotlight onto Lipid Nanoparticle-mRNA formulations, but much remains to be understood and improved about their fullest potential as drug and macromolecule carriers. This project aims to improve the performance and stability of Lipid Nanoparticle formulations by investigating the role of various excipients/lipids and their mechanistic interaction with each other and the nucleic acid cargo. Analytical methods will be developed to assess key quality attributes of these formulations, including stability and release kinetics.
